Einsame Menschen
choir composition and sound design, City Theatre Gießen 2023
In Felicia Zeller's rewriting of Hauptmann's play, young people from the city seek happiness in the countryside. Based on the motif of longing for nature, I composed five romantic vocal pieces for the ensemble, which unfold as poetic points of reflection over the course of the evening. As an acoustic extension of the stage design I also created various atmospheres between picturesque landscape and apocalyptic destruction.
»Dennoch arbeitet die Regisseurin die Brüche des unterhaltsamen Stücks sorgfältig heraus, schafft nach Momenten des Chaos immer wieder Ruhepunkte. Dabei hilft ihr entscheidend die Musik von Benjamin Junghans, der mehrstimmige Lieder komponiert hat. Bewundernswert, wie sauber das gut disponierte Ensemble diese sanften Gesänge auf die Natur a cappella intoniert, ja wie sich alle in dieser herausfordernden Wortschlacht schlagen.«
